Shopping works without a catalog, but importing one makes it far more useful. With a catalog, Echod can match product cards to your exact products, mark them with a Catalog tag, and tell you which of your products AI answers never show. Manage the catalog in Project Settings > Catalog. There are two ways to import.
Project Settings, Catalog tab with the Shopify store card and the upload area

Import from a Shopify store

If you sell on Shopify, Echod can read your store’s public product list. There is nothing to install or connect.
  1. In Shopify store, enter your store’s domain.
  2. Click Fetch.
Echod imports your products and fetches them again every 48 hours to stay current. The card shows the number of products and categories, the currency, and when the last and next sync happen. Click Refetch now to sync immediately; you can do that once every two hours.
The store must be publicly reachable. A password-protected store cannot be imported.

Upload a product file

For any other platform, upload a file under Upload a product file. Two formats are accepted:
  • Echod CSV with the columns title, brand, description, price, currency, link, imageLink and category
  • A Google Merchant Center product export
Files can have up to 10,000 rows and be up to 5 MB.

Import history

Every import is listed under Import history with its source, start time, number of products and result:

Tips

  • Use the names shoppers see. Product titles in your catalog should match the names on your product pages and at merchants, since AI platforms pick names up from there.
  • Keep categories tidy. The categories in your catalog drive the category tree on the Products page.
  • Re-upload after big changes. If you maintain the catalog by file, upload a fresh export when you add or rename products.
